Environmental Issues
In recent years the technological advances in golf club
design have been numerous and impressive. The extreme popularity
of golf has led to a corresponding growth in the number of golf
clubs produced as well as an influx of new club manufacturers.
Although golf club design has gone very "high tech" with the
pronounced use of graphite, titanium, and other exotic
materials, the club assembly process itself remains relatively
unchanged and incorporates the use of several toxic, flammable,
ODC (ozone depleting) or otherwise hazardous chemicals.
All industry is under pressure to replace current solvents with
non-ODC, non hazardous, low or non-VOC materials. VOC
regulations have led some manufacturers to install expensive
recovery systems. Worker exposure and dermatitis concerns
require the use of protective equipment, ventilation and exhaust
equipment and can add to medical claims. Insurance companies
will often increase rates based solely on the usage of flammable
or hazardous materials.
Brampton Technology has specifically addressed the areas of grip
application. HF-100, a non-toxic grip solvent is formulated to
answer today's environmental demands.
